3 benefits of regular yoga practise

If you are new to yoga practise then it is time to celebrate yourself. You are starting a journey of being at one with your mind, body and soul. There are many benefits to regular yoga practise and indeed many types of yoga you can enjoy but today I'll outline three main benefits of a regular yoga practise.


Strength

If you have not done yoga before then you may be surprised that strength is one of things you will gain with regular practise. Many of the poses including the standing strength poses really do challenge muscles and build up strength over time. You will be surprised what your body is capable of and how it can change over time and even the strengths and weaknesses from the left to the right side.


Flexibility

It is no surprise that when you watch a sun salutation flow or a simple flow from lunge to warrior one and warrior 2 that flexibility is key. Depending on your level of fitness you may only be able to go so far in certain poses but regular practise will lengthen and strengthen those muscles so you become more flexible and supple. Excellent as you get older as you don't want to be stressing out joints and muscles with hardcore exercise. Be gentle with your body and work within your range, your body and its capabilities will amaze you.


Reduce Stress

Yoga is all about the physical right? Wrong, yoga is a practise where you learn to go inside and live in the present moment. That in itself takes some practise but once you have mastered working with your breath the health benefits are amazing. Stress reduction is one of the benefits you will get as you work with you body and breath in the moment. Clear your mind and be grateful for the moment you are in.
